During the Vietnam War, when the US bombing killed half of Lang’s family, he and his father secured their lives entering the woods.

After being rescued from the jungle, he could live a civilized life for eight years only. Liver cancer took away his life. Many assumptions are made about his health.
Since he spent so many years, he might have suffered from malnutrition and, a poor diet caused him to suffer from poor health. Some of his friends think he died out of a poor diet.
His father was Ho Van Thanh, who took him to the jungle. After entering the wilderness, they depend on farming. They farmed corn and foraged.
They wore loincloths made of bark and lived in a timber hut built a few meters above the ground. They return to civilization seeking medical help for Thanh.
They had medical checkups, and they slowly started adjusting to modern life upon their return. Thanh could communicate in Cor’s language. However, Lang knew only a few words.

Some of the villagers discovered the father and son while collecting firewood. Later, Thanh’s health deteriorated and, they had to return to civilization to see medication.
They never knew if the war got over. They never tried to return, assuming that the situation might have gotten better. Even after returning, they still thought the war was ongoing
It is not an ordinary thing to spend that long period of life in the jungle. They have learned different skills to survive and proved to be the real-life Tarzan.

Meet The Real-Life Tarzan’s Family
In July 20016, Lang got a chance to visit the house where he spent his childhood. His father passed away in 2017 but, the cause was unknown.
In 1972, Ho Van Thanh was a soldier stationed near his hometown in North Vietnam. After American bombs hit his home and killed his mother and two sons, he grabbed his one-year-old son and ran off into the jungle

Cerezo also wrote a book on the real-life Tarzan in 2017 named Lang, “a little kid with the skills of a superhuman.” Lang’s older brother is Ho Van Tri.
