Mark Addy Parents: Who is Ian Addy?

By Andrew Adams

Mark Addy started his career in television in 1987 with his role in The Ritz. He made an appearance in A Very Peculiar Practice in 1988. Following that, he had several more television appearances in shows like Trollied, The Syndicate, Peak Practice, Too Much Sun, Sunnyside Farm, Band of Gold, Married… with Children, Heartbeat, and Band of Gold.

In Still Standing, Addy played Bill Miller with a pronounced American accent. He also played Detective Boyle in the second season of the British comedy The Thin Blue Line. He also played Sergeant John Rook in the ITV comedies Bike Squad and Bonkers, both of which aired on ITV1 in early 2008.

In 2009, Addy and Fay Ripley costarred in multiple ads for the revamped Tesco Clubcard.

In the HBO series Game of Thrones, he debuted in 2011 as King Robert Baratheon. The showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss claimed that Addy was the easiest actor to cast for the show since he had the best audition they had seen for the role.

Initially, Robert played a significant role in the narrative, but his death was ultimately caused by his binge drinking, womanizing, and hunting. Addy’s character was killed off in season 1 during a tragic wild boar hunting incident.
