Since Stephan was white and from a wealthy family, he did not plead guilty during the initial trial. Later, he entered a plea bargain, accepting seven of the nine charges.
The court ruled six concurrent life imprisonment and 20 years of jail without parole for Soules. He is currently serving his time at the Green River Correctional Complex.
